Software Engineer

High-performance image processing

What do we do?

Chromodynamics develops next-generation microscopes that enable breakthrough discoveries in the search for a cure for cancer. Our unique technology greatly improves the speed, efficiency, and cost of drug development. We have been recognised as one of the most exciting startups in Eindhoven and are scaling up our team to accelerate product development.

What does the position entail?

Our fully automated hyperspectral microscope generates enormous amounts of rich data, which must be processed and analysed in real time. You will accelerate the development of the high-throughput image processing pipeline. Responsibilities include:

  • identifying hardware & software bottlenecks,
  • implementing highly optimised key algorithms in a compiled language,
  • assessing opportunities for GPGPU acceleration,
  • ensuring software quality and compatibility by implementing CI/CD.

You will be working in a small but growing team of developers, physicists, and biomedical engineers dedicated to delivering cancer researchers the tools they need to make their next breakthrough.

What do we expect from you?

Our collaborative team dynamic is one of our core strengths. This means that we are looking for someone that values good interpersonal relationships, honesty, accountability, enjoyment, creativity, and pragmatism. In addition to matching on the personal level, we are targeting exceptional technical talent. Explicitly, we are looking for someone that:

  • is proficient in one or more compiled languages, such as Rust or C++;
  • has a good overview of GPGPU acceleration toolkits, such as CUDA or ROCm;
  • solidly understands how PC hardware impacts software performance;
  • is passionate about software quality and skilled with tools for version control, containerisation and CI/CD pipelines for unit and integration tests;
  • has a working knowledge of the Python language;
  • has at least 3 years of relevant experience;
  • has an EU Work Visa, EU Citizenship, or the right to work within the EU.

What can you expect from us?

In exchange for the team’s hard work and dedication, we offer a sustainable work-life balance and a work environment based on collaboration, trust, diversity, and respect:

  • Rewarding work in a stimulating and fun environment,
  • Competitive salary (depending on your experience),
  • Participation in our Share Appreciation Rights plan (after one year),
  • Flexible working hours and holiday allowance,
  • A socially aware, easy-going, inclusive team that supports you in your growth and ambitions.
