PhotonDelta is a growth accelerator for the photonic chip industry. Photonic chips – also known as Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) – use light instead of electricity to process, sense, and transmit data. These chips power faster, smaller, and far more energy-efficient devices. They have the potential to tackle major global challenges – from reducing the energy consumption of data centers to improving disease detection and enabling safe autonomous mobility. 

PhotonDelta leads an ecosystem of over 70 organisations in the Netherlands and Europe that are developing and scaling this technology. We connect companies, researchers, and investors; provide funding; and help bring integrated photonics to market. Backed by €1.1 billion from the Dutch National Growth Fund, we are expanding fast – and we need your help. 

Your Role 

As a Business Development Intern, you will become an integral part of our international growth strategy. You will work closely with our Business Development and Technology teams, contributing to both strategic initiatives and hands-on execution. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Supporting the global internationalisation strategy of PhotonDelta. 

• Contributing to and improving the CRM system to enhance partner engagement. 

• Bringing creativity to the table by improving presentations and pitch decks. 

• Supporting the team with organisational and communication tasks for internal and external engagements. 

• Expanding your knowledge of photonics markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States. 

• Collaborating with our technical team to identify collaboration opportunities with global partners in the integrated photonics space. 

• Learning from experienced mentors and gaining valuable exposure to the integrated photonics industry and its key stakeholders in the Netherlands and abroad. 

Your Profile 

You are a motivated self-starter who combines technical interest with commercial drive. You enjoy working in a collaborative, international environment and are eager to learn from a diverse team of experts. 

We’re looking for someone who is: 

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. electrical engineering, photonics, applied physics). 

• Equipped with a technical understanding of integrated photonics and a strong business mindset. 

• Proactive, organised, and eager to take initiative. 

• Comfortable giving presentations to various audiences. 

• An effective communicator in English, with a working understanding of Dutch.
