At AIKON, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary and international team of engineers, scientists, and clinicians working at the intersection of medical devices, AI, and patient care.

Role Overview

This role is ideal for an accomplished Senior/Principal Data Scientist ready to step into a leadership track to lead the development of advanced machine learning and statistical models on multi-modal biomedical datasets (ECG, PPG, BioZ, respiration, activity, etc.). This role is designed with a growth trajectory toward becoming AIKON’s Chief Data Scientist, giving you the opportunity to shape our data strategy, lead collaborations with clinical and academic partners, and build a high-performing data science team.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development & Validation
  • Design, implement, and validate machine learning and statistical models for cardiovascular risk prediction, disease progression, and personalized monitoring.
  • Apply state-of-the-art methods for time-series analysis, survival analysis, and multi-modal data fusion.
• Clinical & Translational Research
  • Work with clinical partners to design studies, analyze outcomes, and identify novel biomarkers.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and regulatory submissions.
• Data Infrastructure & Strategy
  • Shape the data architecture and pipelines for large-scale wearable and clinical datasets.
  • Ensure reproducibility, robustness, and compliance with MDR/GDPR standards.
• Leadership & Collaboration
  • Mentor junior data scientists and interns.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and clinical teams to integrate data-driven insights into product development.
  • Lead external collaborations with hospitals, RTOs, and research consortia

Requirements

• PhD (or equivalent experience) in Medical Informatics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis (Python, R).
• Experience with biomedical data (ECG, PPG, BioZ, imaging, omics, or similar).
• Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
