About Saltes:

Saltes is an energy technology company based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. We develop the ThermalPod®, a molten salt heat battery that stores renewable electricity as heat and supplies it on demand. Our mission is to decarbonize industrial heat, one of the largest and hardest-to-abate sources of CO₂ emissions, by making renewable heat reliable, affordable and scalable.

Every industrial site in Europe needs to decarbonize its heat. Saltes offers a practical and scalable way to make that happen, and your work will directly turn that ambition into reality.

After developing and validating our technology in multiple projects, we are now entering commercial rollout across Europe. This is the moment where commercial execution defines success. To drive this expansion, we are looking for a Head of Sales who can turn strong market interest into signed projects and build the commercial foundation for our growth.

 

Role description:

As Head of Sales, you will work directly with the CEO to shape Saltes’ commercial strategy and lead the first phase of our European expansion. This role combines strategic direction with hands-on execution: bringing structure to our sales process, building a small but capable team, and closing the first flagship industrial projects that demonstrate the value of the ThermalPod®.

This is an opportunity to build something from the ground up: the commercial backbone of a deeptech scale-up transitioning from technology validation to European market deployment.

What you will do:

• Co-develop and execute our European sales strategy together with the CEO

• Lead the full sales cycle for industrial EPC and Heat-as-a-Service projects

• Build and manage a small commercial team (starting with a business developer and a sales engineer)

• Establish a clear sales structure, CRM process and pipeline visibility across European markets

• Translate customer needs into actionable proposals and commercial offers

• Work closely with engineering, finance and operations to ensure alignment from lead to delivery

• Help refine Saltes’ business model and go-to-market approach as we scale

 

What success looks like:

Within two years, you have built a solid sales funnel in at least three European countries, set up a professional commercial process and closed multiple industrial projects. You have developed a small but high-performing team and helped position Saltes as a serious player in Europe’s industrial energy transition.

 

Your profile

• 7–10 years of experience in industrial energy project development or cleantech sales

• Proven ability to manage complex, capital-intensive B2B sales cycles

• Strong commercial and analytical mindset combined with solid technical understanding

• Comfortable working in international environments and cross-functional teams

• Hands-on, structured and execution-oriented

• Experience in a scale-up or growth-phase organisation is a strong advantage

• Fluent in English; other European languages are a plus

• Willingness to travel within Europe
