The roadmap will be launched through an interactive virtual event on Wednesday September the 29th at 15:00 – 16:30 (CEST). Registration is mandatory, but free of charge. The event will be broadcasted live from the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The event is part of the Photonics Applications Week and supported by EPIC - the European Photonics Industry Consortium.
They keynote presentation will be given by Carlo van de Weijer, General Manager of AI Systems Institute at Eindhoven University of Technology. Carlo advises ministries and industries around the world on the future of mobility and is member of the supervisory board of several high-tech companies and start-ups.
The roadmap presentation will be held by Carol de Vries, Program Manager at PhotonDelta and coordinator of the roadmap activities. An interactive panel discussion will follow suit with various stakeholders from the industry, such as Kees Gehrels from NXP. The audience will be able to interact during the panel with the speakers through the moderator. In the end, there will be a virtual networking opportunity, allowing both audience and the speakers to continue the discussion.
The automotive industry is going through a rapid transformation, driven by electrification, autonomous vehicles, driver support systems, as well as changes in mobility patterns and city infrastructure. These trends will significantly influence the physical design and capability of vehicles as well as the broader social and economic impacts of changes to car/fleet use.
The increased need for sensors in vehicles, in the electric/hybrid drivetrains and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) up to autonomous driving systems, creates new significant opportunities for the integrated photonics industry.
After the great success of our previous virtual roadmap launch event, PhotonDelta is excited to announce our upcoming launch event for the automotive roadmap.

A roadmap created by experts from the field
PhotonDelta, an independent industry accelerator for the integrated photonics industry, has created a roadmap that provides an overview of the different trends in the automotive sector and list the opportunities for integrated photonics technology. The roadmap was created together with various stakeholders from the industry as well as integrated photonics companies and will be made available for download after the event.
The roadmap encompasses an overview of the grand challenges and trends in the automotive sector and how that will impact the need for technology and dynamics in the supply-chain. The roadmap also provides a deeper understanding of the various applications in which integrated photonics can play a role, with a strong focus on FMCW LiDAR and Fiber Bragg Grating interrogators.
