Summary of function and duties
The Lab Technician has experience of working in a materials or chemical laboratory environment to strengthen our 3D battery team in Eindhoven. We are looking for a technician who is, accurate and focused on the quality and validation of the various to be synthesized chemistries for our 3D battery. You will play a critical role in preparing, assembling, and testing baseline and new recipes, ensuring reproducible results in our cell development.

This person will work closely with other colleagues on various projects within the LionVolt company.

Key responsibilities and requirements

  • Perform hands-on tasks, including material stocking & preparation, electrolyte fabrication, battery cell assembly (e.g. coin), according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), and set up tests on battery cycling equipment, while accurately recording observations throughout these processes.
  • Work comfortably in a lab and glove boxes for extended periods.
  • Do maintenance and lab clean up, scheduled for cell assembly and testing labs.
  • Document all activities, generate reports and updates on battery cycling data periodically, and maintain diligent records.
  • Follow lab schedules and ensure tasks are completed on time to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain focus and stamina when working for extended periods in controlled environments, such as glove boxes.
  • Demonstrate precision and accuracy in all tasks to ensure high-quality and reproducible results.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment, including glove boxes, ovens, and battery cyclers, ensuring smooth operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Strictly adhere to laboratory safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous or reactive materials.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers and lab management to develop, test, and optimize innovative battery technologies and test methodologies.
  • Conduct inventory management, including stock-taking of supplies and materials, and help handle procurement to ensure uninterrupted workflows.
  • Experience in a research lab and/or electrochemical testing procedures is an advantage.


Your Profile

  • Education: MBO/ HBO, MBO with at least 1 year of working experience
    chemical technology, chemical engineering, material science
    proven experience in a research lab in a hands-on technical environment; experience with electrochemical testing is an advantage.
  • Additional requirements: Understanding of, and the ability of synthesizing, organic and in organic materials is a plus
  • Job level: junior/ entry level
  • English speaking, equivalent to at least B1 level
