Join the 7th edition of the Lunch & Learn, our lunchbreak knowledge sharing sessions for startups and scaleups!
A startup’s relationship with the press is important. When your startup achieves something great, you reach out to the press and news outlets to spread the word. However, what you consider newsworthy and what the media considers newsworthy might be a bit different. Plus, the process of writing a press release and getting it into the hands of an editor can be long and tricky. That’s especially true if it’s your first time writing one.
To complicate matters further, the Internet and social media have changed all the rules.
You may ask: What even is a press release? Who is your audience? When do you write a press release? What is considered newsworthy to the press? What are the writing conventions of a press release?
Terry and Cheryl Boyd of Dispatches Europe are here to answer your burning questions!
What we’ll discuss in this session:
• The correct form for media releases
• How to identify the most relevant news outlets for your release
• How editors and reporters work and what they consider "news"
• The New Media of influencers and thought leaders
