Application Engineer (MES)

SMART Photonics is rapidly growing, and we are expanding our ICT team with an all-round Application Engineer MES. Someone who understands our semiconductor/photonics & production processes and who can support us by offering proposals, designs, development, and implementation of complex MES projects.

Beside the technical knowhow, you are an adventurer like the rest of us, able to understand the needs of a scale-up organization and its changing environment. You prioritize, deal with all the challenges we are facing on a daily base and enjoy the hectical moments.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, control, develop and validate MES solution using EZ-MES of Eazyworks;
• Assist and participate in all aspects of MES project implementation (recipe design, interface development, documentation, testing, requirement gathering);
• Configure work-flows in MES with collaboration of engineering team;
• Troubleshoot and assist Smart Photonics with resolving application problems including verifying/testing software hotfixes;
• Configure manufacturing execution systems, manufacturing intelligence tools, process control systems and interfaces between these systems and other enterprise systems;
• Presenting and reporting on projects & updates;

• Supervising documentation & configuration changes, including implementation preparation, with an interdisciplinary role;
• Create and optimize documents and procedures;
• Manage and monitor the traceability & consistency of MES configurations;
• Prepare work instructions & training material;
• Provide on-demand reports to stakeholders and support development of analytic capabilities;
• Support future enhancement of MES and integration to ISA-95 level-2 and 4 systems;
• Active thinking and improvement of processes and associated automation. (e.g. PLM).

Our ideal candidate is / has:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, automation, bioengineering, chemical engineering or equivalent;
• +3 years of experience with MES in a complex production environment;
• Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively and create buy-in;
• Software development skills in programming, analysis, methodology, design and architecture;
• Business acumen in a technical environment;
• Actively participate in technical project team;
• Proactive mentality with self-driven approach;
• Ability to work independently based on task guidance as provided by others;
• Ability to contribute and support multiple projects simultaneously;
• Knowledge of SQL and Spotfire/Power BI is a plus.
