The SMART Photonics team is recruiting a Product Manager.

 

As Product Manager at SMART Photonics, you are the interface between our Customers,  SMART’s R&D- and Engineering teams as well as other industrial partners. Your job is to understand our customers’ application and market’s needs as well as their product roadmaps.

 

You identify broader market trends and directions to drive SMART’s technology roadmap. You closely collaborate with partners (e.g. technology and EPDA software vendors) all this to eventually secure the complete offering towards our customers. This will require distilling all customer application- and market needs to functional requirements, technology choices and internal prioritization of developments between the R&D and engineering teams all leading to defining the product strategy.

 

As the biggest drivers are the telecom- and datacom markets you are ready to engage with customers in this application space, as well as customer in the field of Lidar for automotive or structural health monitoring and biomedical applications.

 

Thorough understanding of photonic integration technologies and semiconductor technologies, system level knowledge (e.g. understanding of coherent/IMDD optical communication systems), is a must for this position. You can pinpoint the key technology demands that need to be met, understanding of the pure-foundry model and the PDK offering.

 

Your responsibility:

  • Product Management of our InP photonic integration technologies and relevant markets such as telecom, datacom, Lidar, sensing etc..
  • Collaborate with technology and software partners, e.g. for EPDA tools.
  • Create backlog for strengthening our offer to and intimacy with our customers.
  • Clear understanding of customers’ needs and challenges and translation to functional specs for building blocks and PIC designs.
  • Work together with Sales and Marketing team to assess and develop new business opportunities and to define the scope and requirements for new customer projects.
  • Work with R&D to give specifications and drive future technology developments as well as work with our Engineering team to set priorities for maturing the developed technologies.
  • Provide product and technology feedback to customers, influencing their roadmap planning process.
  • Provide product and technology feedback from customers for incorporation and alignment of the company technology and product roadmap.
  • Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking to ensure the right positioning of product solutions.
  • Generate marketing material.
  • Participate during business-, sales- and technology events on a global scale.

 

We are looking for a person who has / is:

  • In-depth knowledge of (integrated) photonics is required and ideally of the photonics semiconductor industry.
  • In-depth knowledge about application needs, mainly telecom and datacom markets.  Knowledge of markets such as Lidar and sensing is a plus.
  • Understanding of pure-play foundry business model, PDK concept and EPDA tools landscape
  • Technical education, with more than 7 years of professional work experience in the semiconductor / sensors / telecom industry in a combined technical and commercial role.
  • Hands-on attitude and able to translate technology into a strong business proposition but also market requirements to technology developments.
  • Able to work in cross-functional teams and to influence effectively internal and external stakeholders. Strong communicator, self-confident and able to connect with people and win their trust and respect.
  • Determined and persistent in identifying solutions that are deemed satisfying by all stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical skills and creative thinking used to make data-driven decisions.
  • Able to travel up to 10%
