Job Description:

To keep pushing our boundaries and improve our technology, we are recruiting a R&D Scientist!

As a Scientist specialized in High Speed Devices, you are part of our Research and Development team and our Building Block cluster. Within this team, you intensively collaborate with our scientists, direct R&D colleagues, vertical engineers, product management, and other involved  departments.

It will become your challenge to precise engineer specific High-speed devices (e.g Photodetectors and modulators) based upon the given technical and functional requirements.

  • Develop and improve high speed device solutions and compact models to be offered in SMART Photonics’ building blocks, for our Process Design Kit (PDK);
  • Characterize these devices using measurement tools;
  • Design integration photonics sensors that can work as modulators;
  • Understand our customer needs and able to translate them to useful, manufacturable, and reliable devices;
  • Design of Experiments to be included on MPW’s for qualification of our devices;
  • Participation in improvement projects; 8D’s and/or FMEA’s.

The ideal candidate has/is:

  • A PhD in Integrated Photonics or Physics, Electronics with a focus on Photonics and RF Electronics;
  • At least 3 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, or has worked on a thesis topic related to these job requirements;
  • Experience in the design and modelling of high frequency devices (e.g. modulators, photodetectors) as well as characterization;
  • Cleanroom experience, considered a plus;
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
