Electrical and Test Engineer (2–5 years’ experience)

Help shape the future of wind energy – starting today.

About TouchWind
TouchWind was founded in 2018 based on an idea developed over more than 30 years. The concept revolves around a two-bladed, one-piece rotor designed to operate with a skewed inflow. This innovative design allows for simpler tower construction and rotor systems, leading to reduced costs and improved wind farm performance. (Learn more at www.touchwind.org)

TouchWind Work Ethos
We’re a young start-up working on groundbreaking floating wind turbine technology. Our culture is informal, hands-on, and direct. We embrace creativity, a bit of rebelliousness, and a healthy dose of stubbornness to challenge conventional thinking. We value people who enjoy tackling complex problems while keeping the big picture in mind.

Our Project
We’re currently developing and testing our turbine technology, including a project involving ten 6-meter diameter turbines to demonstrate “Positive wake effects of wind turbines with tilted rotors.” We’re working with leading partners like TNO, MARIN, We4Ce, Nidec, and VDL and have secured a multimillion-euro RVO grant to support this innovation.

Your Role: Electrical Test Engineer

We are looking for a practical and hands-on Electrical and Test Engineer with an applied sciences background (Dutch HBO level) in mechatronics, automotive, or electrical engineering. You’ll support the design, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in our rotor prototypes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and installing electrical systems for the turbine components (floater, tower, nacelle, hub)
  • Setting up, executing, and monitoring tests—often on-site in the Netherlands for multiple days
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems during testing phases
  • Interpreting data and contributing to test result analysis
  • Performing practical work, such as soldering and basic mechanical assembly
  • Assisting in various other tasks as needed within the start-up environment

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds an HBO (higher professional education) degree in mechatronics, automotive or electrical engineering
  • Has 2 to 5 years of professional experience
  • Has practical skills, including soldering and basic mechanical troubleshooting
  • Is able to read, understand, and contribute to electrical system designs
  • Is willing to travel and work on-site for testing (within the Netherlands)
  • Has experience or interest in data analysis and programming (knowledge of Codesys is a big plus)
  • Has a hands-on and flexible mentality
  • Is enthusiastic and comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up setting
  • Holds a valid driver’s license (B)

You’ll thrive at TouchWind if you:

  • Enjoy building from the ground up, including the challenges that come with it
  • Work well independently but also value collaboration
  • Are proactive, practical, and adaptable
  • Want to make a difference in sustainable energy

What we offer:

  • A full-time position (standard at 32 hours per week, with the possibility to work 36 hours if preferred)
  • Competitive salary, including holiday pay
  • The chance to work on a breakthrough technology with real-world impact
  • Opportunities to grow professionally as the company scales
  • Initial 1-year contract, with potential for extension to permanent
  • Hybrid working option – office in Eindhoven, partial work-from-home possible
  • Immediate start preferred – we’re actively looking for someone to join us as soon as possible
