LionVolt’s innovation centre is based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, and we operate a cell manufacturing facility in Scotland. As we expand with a new production line at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Process Engineer / Systems Engineer to support the industrialisation of our next-generation manufacturing processes.

The Role
In this position, you will lead the technical development, integration, and industrialisation of roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment and processes. You will combine system engineering, process development, and project leadership to ensure new production systems meet performance, quality, and scalability requirements. You will work closely with internal R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams, as well as external OEM partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and development of roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment and process systems
- Define process and system requirements based on product and manufacturing needs
- Translate laboratory and pilot process knowledge into scalable industrial solutions
- Ensure equipment designs deliver the required stability, throughput, yield, and quality performance
- Manage the technical relationship with OEM suppliers and lead design reviews with internal and external stakeholders
- Assess technical risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Oversee integration of key subsystems such as coating, deposition, drying, web handling, inspection, and automation
- Develop system specifications, interface definitions, validation plans, and design documentation
- Lead FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, and qualification activities
- Troubleshoot technical issues during installation and production ramp-up
- Drive process optimisation through experiments, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support planning, scheduling, milestone tracking, and change control throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Your Profile
- Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a pilot line or industrial manufacturing environment
- Proven track record in scaling processes from lab or pilot scale to industrial production
- Strong expertise in one or more of the following: roll-to-roll manufacturing, thin-film or thin-layer deposition, coating, or calendaring processes
- Experience in semiconductor, MEMS, or photovoltaic manufacturing environments is highly preferred
- Solid understanding of process development, equipment design, and system integration
- Experience working with OEM suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
- Familiarity with quality methodologies such as Six Sigma, FMEA, or SPC is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills, hands-on problem-solving ability, and a proactive mindset
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, ownership-driven approach
